UniClear Imposes E-gold Daily Limit and Raises Fees
Tags: No Tags.Today I found out that UniClear has a new daily limit for buying and selling e-gold. In addition, there are new, higher fees. They made the change last week and UniClear members were not notified. There is no news bulletin on the web site to indicate the changes, either.
Here is the reply that I received after inquiring about transferring funds:
Thanks for your inquiry. It is possible that you were not able to purchase e-gold if you were attempting to buy more than the newly implemented $2000/day limit. This, along with increased fees, have been put in place to help ensure that the situation that we experienced earlier.
New UniClear E-gold Rules & Fees
Buy Price (from local currency) – 7%
Sell Price (to local currency) – 3%
Buy Limit – $2000 USD per dayThe new fees were implemented last week, but there was unfortunately not a notice made on the site. Also, the term to buy/purchase e-gold is in fact used to define an exchange of your funds from USD to e-gold. Therefore, this $2000/day limit is for exchanges from USD to e-gold. Keeping these new rules and fees in mind, I ask that you please attempt your transaction again.
This is in response to running out of e-gold a couple of weeks ago UniClear’s old rates (buy at 3% and sell at 2%) were reasonable. In addition the limit was based on how many DD hoops you jumped through. At their new rates, I won’t be using them as an exchanger in the future!
Living in the US, it’s been more convenient to use payment processors for exchanging e-gold. Several of them allow you to do EFT directly with your bank (or credit card) and do e-gold exchanges. Bank to e-gold and back again with ease and decent speed. EMO went down. Alertpay faces many problems, including days that they are out of e-gold. UniClear has a limit and highway-robbery fees. AsianPay is scrambling for e-gold and launched a HYIP to increase their e-gold. I guess it is back to 3rd party exchangers (sigh).

An alternative to Uniclear may be FriendlyPay.net. It’s located in Canada. There are some limitations for U.S. residents (which should improve) but as far as reliability, reasonable fees, and good customer service, they do a great job.
Hi Macdonald, thanks for visiting. How long have you been using FriendlyPay?
Hi Jude
I posted a reply yesterday. Just not sure where it went.
I’ve used FriendlyPay for 1 1/2 years off and on. Since EMO is no longer and the others seem to be having troubles, I’ll be using FriendlyPay more often.
For U.S. residents, right now, we can have money transfered into our bank accounts but we can’t fund our Friendly account with a wire transfer. Also, if you send a money order, send a postal money order. They clear faster. Once you send the money order, go back into your account, click on Deposit Money and enter your money order information. That way when they get the money order, they apply it to your account.

Thanks for your input Nancy!
I’ll be looking at them shortly to see how reliable are they. Again, thank you!
