Joey, one of our alert readers, reported the following in a comment:

    From: “Gary Lloyd”
Subject: Phoenixsurf down – no worries!
    Date: Thu, 27 Apr 2006 03:37:13 0000

    Hi everyone!

Many of you may have noticed that Phoenixsurf has been offline since early this afternoon. I just spoke with Brent Anderson, the forum mod., and he explained the situation: Today, Phoenixsurf was doing some regular system audits. They found a guy in South America who had 250 accounts, and they deleted his accounts and blocked his IP address. He was apparently not very happy about it, and began doing DDOS attacks on Phoenixsurf. Phoenixsurf is isolating the areas that are under attack and correcting the problem. One of the things they can’t access is the email addresses of all members, so that is why they haven’t emailed us to tell us what is going on.

Today will be a surf holiday – meaning you WILL get paid even if you didn’t get a chance to surf. You can always count on Phoenixsurf to make things right.

Please forward this to everyone in Phoenixsurf!
    Gary
