Never ever believe any emails that is coming from “E-gold” telling that you have some problems with your account and need validation of some sort. Never. An example below:

    Dear Customer,

We believe that your e-gold account may have been accessed by a third party, therefore we have temporarily limited access to your account. In order to re-gain access, please secure your identity by visiting the link below.

Please visit our secure website at https://www.e-gold.com/securelogin.jsp?SECUREHASH=4940850E8EFIHDS84HF to provide updated contact & security details.

We thank you for your co-operation in this matter,

    Thank-you,
    e-gold security

This is not an automated email.

THIS MATTER IS URGENT, AND SHOULD BE RESOLVED IMMEDIATELY.

E-gold will never send you Emails (apart from your pins) and your news should be coming from accessing E-gold’s site yourself. The above emails are what we call spoofed emails, and in the cyberworld known as phishing/ spoofing attacks. They’ll direct you to a site which looks exactly like E-gold, get your information when you input them in, and empty your account once they get hold of them.

On a side note, Thunderbird seems to have a new function on email spoofing. They’ve reported “Thunderbird thinks that this might be an email scam”. That’s pretty neat of Mozilla’s email client.
