Posted on the front page at PhoenixSurf is the following note from Jonathan Mikula (the bold type is mine):
Dear Phoenixsurf.com Members,
Over the next couple weeks, our site will be undergoing changes – some of them daily! We know communication is the key to our future success so check your homepage as well as the forum everyday for updates and progress reports.
First and foremost, I, Jonathan, personally want to thank you for your amazing support and loyalty during the past two weeks. Your positive thoughts and prayerful support helps motivate our staff as we correct all of the outstanding problems while we continue to improve the NME network.
As you know, we recently discovered problems in Phoenixsurf.com. Most notably, these problems required our immediate attention so we could stop them from recurring and as a result I called for the programmers to disable the ability for you to upgrade and I suspended automatic payouts.
What is our goal now?
Perfection. We are going to take the next few weeks to clean up the entire Phoenixsurf system. We will do two things: shortly, we will post our schedule of planned refunds of your last upgrade amounts; and, we plan to announce the implementation of other sites within the NME network. Like you, we want you to be positioned where you feel comfortable enough to consider joining us in some, if not all, of our future ventures.
We hope to post a payback schedule within the next few days. We will post this payout schedule on our homepage as well as email it out to every member.
Due to the security issues we had, along with many of our members, with E-gold, we plan to process refunds through your NME debit card. In preparation for this I recommend you go to www.nmecard.com and register for your debit card. Then log into your Phoenixsurf account and update your Phoenixsurf profile with your new debit card number.
Thank you,
Jonathan Mikula, CEO of NME
Please note the last paragraph in which you find that you MUST purchase the NME card to even have a shot at getting your money. I wonder what has happened to those funds which were force-upgraded recently? Will they be repaid?
Lots of questions around this one, but only one clear conclusion (well its MY conclusion anyway, not necessirily the view of the management and all that). If you cannot get your money via egold, its because the egold funds have already been withdrawn to … somewhere else. Any honest company would allow a choice at this point, but no doubt once they have you with an NME card, the screws will be on to not withdraw, and to spend more on the NME program, an MLM which will make Mikula very very very rich. If he pulls it off.
A word on the NME card: $US22.95 to buy and you must also deposit $10.00 and for heavens sake look at the fee schedule, its pretty steep from VM and then NME adds another 3.5% on top. Unless you have a really large deposit in Phoenix, I would run, not walk, away from this one.

Very interesting sum up. IMO, Phoenix is still trying to pull things off, they haven’t score in the first place with me and I managed to get out quite early in time with this.
Just hope not many people were affected (but judging from their forum and MMG, many were)
The signs were already there, when NME decided that only NME cards would be accepted to withdraw money in the future. Also they recently stated that it would take a couple of weeks before withdrawing would be closed to E-gold.
Well, they did it today without any notice up front.
Another big SCAM.
This is history, when people are force to do something without had an option and this is not something good that make othersurf get banned with the same situation.
This is one giant big SCAM that noONE had ever done before.
want to know the pro, they are pro.
Holidayfreak: me too, I only had one upgrade in there, I was paid and on the brink of another when they announced the card and that e-gold would go. I stopped right there and then and am so glad I did. I won’t support any program which becomes so controlling.
The way i look there’s nothing wrong with the egold.
Members should had their option.I see day by day
PS are trying to buy sometime but then, still without
any option. For me only someone that had a good knowledge
and credit card can change to the NME card. This is not
somethin for ordinary man can do without support.
we have to believe that is not all members in the PS
know how to follow the proper oder and cannot make any mistake.
why must make things more difficult.
Always people can’t control their mind when they see alot
of money.Hope is not one of THEM.
I agree. At least they gave us enough advance warning signs, for those that heeded them. So many are closing shop are making immediate, or worse retroactive, decisions that make it impossible to know when to jump ship.
GEEEEEEEEZ !!………..all this negative energy. I enjoyed reading all the different takes on what’s happening at PS…….however , I am a newbie…and of course I am NO EXPERT.
It’s my understanding that E-GOLD has been hacked several times. Seems like the debit card is more secure.
Regarding fees………they look to be inline with your average bank. Why is it a big deal to leave $10 in your account……most banks require much more.
Anyway…..being a new guy……….I don’t know crap from crisco………..somebody wanna educate me…..it would be much appreciated.
Regards
Terry
Hi Terry,
Welcome to the world of HYI (including Autosurfs and HYIP)! I was lost with all of the information, until I read HYIP101 (http://www.hyip101.com/go.php?r=686). It’s very informative and the most valuable part of it is access to a private forum with some very good experts that are happy to explain anything about HYI or various programs.
By the way, egold can only be hacked if you’re careless. There are a number of things you can do to protect your e-currencies. The most important one is to never click on a link in an email. Links send you to a mirror site or install a virus that captures your account information, including password. Here is a list of ways you can protect your online accounts… http://hyipblog.nobshyip.net/2006/04/19/keep-your-accounts-safe/.
Good luck in you endeavors!
