In case you’re thinking about using UniClear to move your egold in or out, think again. UniClear has completely dropped selling egold and is buying it with a whopping 5% fee!

We regret to inform you that we are cancelling the ability to purchase e-gold via UniClear. This is due to certain criminals who have funded their UniClear account by credit card and then purchased and withdrawn the funds in e-gold, have subsequently disputed the charges on their credit cards with Visa in order to defraud us.

We have had enough of the fraud we continually face with e-gold and effective immediately we will no longer allow anyone to purchase e-gold from us nor to withdraw e-gold to their e-gold account. We will ONLY accept e-gold deposits which can be converted to USD at a rate of 5%. This rate is necessary in order to protect ourselves against valuation swings in gold prices while we hold this currency.

We apologise to all the honest people who have not abused our services in this regard but we have no other way of dealing with this continual fraud. The main issue is simply that e-gold does no due diligence on any accounts and will not reverse any fraudulent transactions so it is a perfect breeding ground for criminals.

    UniClear Management

I have used UniClear in the past to buy egold. They made you jump through more hoops and provide more ID than most online processors. I’m surprised that they don’t have enough information to prosecute the “criminals”. It is more likely just an excuse, because they have had problems obtaining enough egold in the past.

Programs that use UniClear as a payment processor have been complaining about how slow they are. Between canning egold and program complaints, look for UniClear to fade into distant memory for the HYI arena. If you have funds in UniClear, move them out as quickly as possible. They may or may not survive the inevitable drop in business.

I’ve heard of very slow and bad experiences with Uniclear in which I’m lucky not to have any dealings with it apart from testing the card for the review initially.

A good replacement to Uniclear might be AsianPay, where things are done more quickly and they have better customer service than the rest of the processors.

And about the bad remark of e-Gold, that’s the uniqueness and strength which I appreciate, not because its a ground for criminals, but having the anonymity with my funds feels good.

The reason UniClear starts and stops these services is because they are completely incompitent. My sources (who shall remain nameless) have pointed out that virtually nothing behind the scenes at UniClear is automated. Everything is done manually across several locations, none of which co-ordinate between each other, so all the hoops you need ot jump through will invariable become lost anyway.

Add to this the fact that UniClear seems more interested in adding new features rather than fixing what they already have, and you have a recipe for disaster.

Having all their work done by some entity named “Push72″ doesn’t help either.

I don’t know how many of you have actually bothered navigating all areas of the site, but there is a lot of conflicting information, and some completely outdated information.

Love it or hate it, this is incredibly unprofessional.

      Squeeler,

Thanks for the information! It explains a lot of what I went through with them. I had already stopped using them before they made this announcement. This announcement and your information are why I have no plancs to use them for anything in the future.

      Thanks,
      Sharon

Might be time to cut up my Uniclear card then, lol
