In my opinion the hyip community must not listen to the big rating sites. They drive the ponzi scam's. Sites like hyipdiscussion, talkgold, etc. I think these sites are the main problem. They are referral whores and could care less if people lose money. They should be excommunicated from the hyip community and investors should come to places like nobs!!!!!

I agree with this article. I think sometimes of getting out of the HYIP arena myself and concentrate on Forex Trading, because it's too risky and there are too many dishonest admins. I think that, in overall, I have lost money in HYIPs, even if I made about $2000 with 12DailyPro. If I didn't lose money, at least I broke even. The good thing is I never invest more than $500 in one single program, with the exception of FeederFund (where I have more than $1000).

I lost money probably because I invested mainly in High Risk programs (no proof of trades, no real contact...). I still think that there are some real opportunities out there, and I'm not over with HYIPs yet. You need to research a lot and leave your feelings out of the way.

Nice post. Every year out of 10000, there are about 100 honest sites. 50 sites make it into the next year. 49 of those that survive however are just well setup ponzi's, and one of them is very real. Of those 50, 5 survive 2 years but 4 of them are still ponzi's. Out of those 5, 2 survive 3 years and only one of them is real, the other is just a very long lasting ponzi. At this poin the honest site turned private and disappears from the hyip world, not ever mentioned again.(they just stay under the radar and remain closed to new members)
The ponzi will then die as well. Now after 3years we have one site left, but unless you invested in it, you wont remember its name anymore.

There comes a point of realisation after a certain amount of time spent in this arena that it is an uphill struggle to make serious money out of these programs. Sure, in the short term you can play the ponzis if your timing is good but to make money consistently in the long run without losing your shirt is pretty tough. For this reason I can understand why people become disheartened and reach the conclusion that there is no money to be made (aside from scamming which appears to be very lucrative indeed). I think this conclusion is incorrect, and there are many hyip-savvy players/investors who have and do make serious cash from these programs who are evidence that this is false conclusion. This point of realisation marks the time when the hyip novice has shaken off their naivete and can now develop realistic expectations about what can be achieved and the risks that they face.

There are a million ways (probably more) to achieve a rate of interest higher than that which traditional financial institutions offer to their customers. I believe that some hyip admins, albeit very few, do utilise these methods and can pass on some of these supernormal profits onto the hyiper. It's just a case of finding them in this jungle.

Nay Kat, it may be a bit more. In Belgium the average yearly return for a bank in the last 3 years just from trading was 50-60%(announced on the news). Thats 4-5% monthly return average or an average of 1% weekly.

>> If people just understood that the best investors in the world rarely
>> achieve over 20% monthly profits (look at Warren Buffet)

20% YEARLY, not monthly!

My vote? Down with the ponzi's! Let us choose not to make use of them anymore, and always do homework before investing.

The light at the end of the tunnel is the alliance between those people who can really trust each other. And thus, the fight against organized crime is on!

Absolutely right Jude. Hyips are in the main just fronts for organised crime. Lets face it. They are far less risky for the criminal than say people or drug trafficking. As the first poster said even with the best will in the world the very few honest admins can still screw up and they do screw up on a regular basis and that is due to a mixtue of incompetence and bad luck.

The only light at the end of the tunnel for me - appears to be the autosurf industry. There are a few very innovative and ethically minded invividuals who are trying to build up a long term business plan in the autosurf arena. I will not mention any names but most readers will know to whom I refer. These people appear to genuinely want to be around for a long time and they give proper bricks and mortar addresses and pay their taxes etc. I would like to think that this is the way forward, but like anything in this flimsy arena, only time will tell!!!

Good luck to us all.
