Goldage’s Review
Tags: Gold Age.Goldage is a new forum owned by Mark(It used to be an exchange service in the past). People are rewarded points when they post quality posts. People can also loose or gain reputation. If you spam or you post insulting posts, some members may vote negatively for you and make you loose a reputation point. If you post very good quality posts, you may be rewarded with a reputation point.
You start out with 10 points, if you manage to get less then 10 points, you will not earn any points anymore and you can no longer earn money. 1000 points are worth 5$ in e-gold or 10$ in liberty exchange.(A new egold a-like payment processor.) You can also exchange points with some member but thats at your own risk. If the other member scams you, Goldage will never give your points back even if they are capable to do it. They are very sever on this, and will warn you about the risks. This is not fair as they indirectly support scammers by ignoring complaints about it. They do have a point, their TOS says they wont help you on these issues, so they won’t. But I will explain later why not taking any responsibility is not always good
There is one flaw with the pointsystem however that has been taken too lightly by the admins. Even admins cannot edit the point totals of members and according to Fortis one of the admins that feature will never be coded because he feels their is no need for it and secondly he says there isnt such command for security reasons. Now tell me this if you invest money in a site and your money vanishes due to a bug, you tell the admin and he says sorry we cannot return the money to you, we are not allowed to do that for “security reasons” would you accept that? Points = Money = some form of investing.
Also a bug can always happen, and points can simply vanish. Currently they are revamping the site because of a bug that indeed made people randomly loose points. Mark the owner is confident after the revamping this bug wont accur anymore, but my vision on this is, that a system is never flawless and due to some weird reason the bug will simply re-occur, just to annoy Mark. I always say : “If something is impossible to happen, it somehow will happen after all” As they dont have a command to return points,I assume they always have to go manually into the database to change the point total in case a bug occurs, which will end up in a nightmare. Even if such command to add points, is not really needed it cant hurt coding one just in case the worst happens. I always prefer to have too many commands then to have too less.
They also build in an escrow system where people can send money through the escrow service and then the escrow service will pay out the reciever. This is nice. They may give lack of support on a money/point exchange service, but they surely offer a nice bulletproof system for money to money exchanges.
The site layout is using bright colors, but it never becomes disturbing and its really nice. The forum theirfor looks very attractive. Very well done.
The admins can be reached fairly easily using PM, but dont expect them to reply to topics or questions that has already been answered. There are only 2 admins and they seem to run out of time a lot. If you tell a moderator or Fortis, why dont you hire more admins they are kinda rude saying Mark decide who and when to hire someone and thats it. Pretty lame. The admins post everywhere in threads that does not require an answer but ignore other threads just as easily. That is a pitty, because on a forum, daily admin support is very important and sometimes that support is lacking.
Mark claims the forum is not a hyip and that the ability to earn money on the site should be considered a BONUS. This is very true. Whenever you got a point or money issue, unless its some kind of bug, they do not care much about it, and you are left in the cold. IF you join goldage just for the money, you will be very disappointed. Its hard work to build up quality posts to gather 1000 points together and if you exchange with another members and they scam you, the support is non existing.
I currently got some mixed feelings about this forum. If you join goldage because you want a nice little forum with a nice layout and a nice community then goldage may be the forum for you. However because Mark offers money to its members, 99% of the posters, as a result, simply post at this forum solemly to earn money. This is normal, where there is money, it attracts money hungry souls or poor people. You see a problem arise here? Pointsystem down = no posts at all = boredom. Pointsystem up = no support = many scammers abusing it due to the lack of support on point/money exchange issues which results in many frustrated members. My fear is that one day a scammer build up a reputation, then post a really nice offer, scamming thousand forum members all at once and then Fortis or Mark says sorry you all exchanged at your own risk. This scenario may happen one day. Fortis still has to approove all the cashouts first but this means in the best possible scenario, the scammer will be stuck with +100000 points in his account and Fortis does not send these points back to members, basically voiding the points(= money). Now that would be a very bad mess indeed.
Of course mark will most likely comment but this is not a money forum and that there are hundreds of other newly invented features on the site. True, but are members really interested in all those things? No. What most care about is to post post and post some more just to earn some $$.
I understand Mark doesnt have endless money but you either make a “pay” forum or you dont. Right now they choose the middle-way. They pay but they dont take responsibility if things go wrong. The idea behind it, is nice, but in my eyes that just doesnt work. One day this structure will fall and collapse on top of Mark. I wish Mark the best, but if he wants Goldage to work in the long run, he surely needs to work on a few flaws I mentioned here, and also look for other flaws that may arise still that didnt cross my mind, else the forum wont be there anymore in a couple years from now or be a dead forum with no members.

Let’s hope our new forum wouldn’t turn out to be like this
Usually in get paid to post forum, the forum admin needs to limit the amount posts every member can post everyday, like hyipstalk
You got a point there Ivan. Money is limited, so you have the limit the amount of cash members can make each day. I think Goldage started with good intentions but do you know they also have a bank where you can deposit your points and let them grow? Until january the % was even 2% a day!!! But they recently changed that to 5% every 30 days(which I feel is still way too much) It turned goldage into a ponzi rather than a paying forum and Mark has to take measures to avoid goldage from crashing down. The pointsystem has now been offline for 1 full month. Supposedly to fix bugs, but perhaps they are also trying to recover some from the ponzi system, goldage used to be. I dont say Goldage is a bad forum, but if Mark wants to keep to option for members to cash-out points he still needs to add a lot of changes to balance it out.
It’s weird that they’re doing this. And if they should limit posts like what Ivan has mentioned, it’ll defeat the whole purpose of having a forum formed.
Still, to each its own, maybe they think this is a good way to get them quality traffic.
