    Check out this video.

With people like these that does the reports on showing the negative side, it’s tough for any ecurrency to prove themselves on how long will they last.

Wow… that was some really objective reporting.

Did you notice how they zoomed in on Doug Jackson while he was wearing very casual clothes, pumping gas? Almost as if to make him look like some kind of a shady character. He’s not wearing a suit, so he must be shady.

SOMEONE is obviously gunning for e-gold.. and the ‘anonymous’ thing is a bunch of bullshit. NOBODY is anonymous in e-gold - IP addresses are logged, and you have to in-exchange and/or out-exchange the e-gold at some point - and there you go, there is your real identity. Who are they kidding? Terrorists using e-gold? Yeah sure.. maybe for 0.00001% of their transactions?. Try bank accounts and cash!! That would represent the other 99 %. So we should shut down the use of cash, and the use of banks too right? I mean after all, terrorists use it.

      What a load of shit!!
      Sorry for my rant!

No problem cashking, I’m with you on this one.

      My strong opinion:

EGOLD, GET THE HECK OURT OF THE US!!!!! MOVE ALL OFFICES TO PANAMA PRONTO!!!!! COMPRENDE????

Anyway, egold is back up now. BUT they are fools to be in the US for many reasons. Ebullion too.

scary!….banking institutions would do anything to get their way!

    5. Gravatar Icon 5 Winter

Absolute crap. This thing has got more spin than a school’s merry-go-round, even more reason to trust the news media. Using their logic we’d have to ban cash, tvs, the net, computers, and all world commerce.

Is the US planning to change it’s definitions and laws? It wouldn’t surprise me to see new laws on the books, which encompass e-currencies, in the near future. Personally, I think that e-gold has gotten too popular and Uncle Sam wants a piece of the pie.

Since the US does not consider e-gold an MSB, then is it a stretch to assume that all fluxes in and out of e-gold are not earnings until we cash it out to US Dollars for tax purposes? If that’s the case, then Vince Krolein, Alien Trust, filed false tax information for all of his e-gold customers. (Note: I am NOT a tax authority and am only posing a question for speculation purposes.)

The only problem I see with e-gold is that they don’t verify your id, address, phone contact etc.. when you sign up for an account unlike some I know of such as Moneybookers or Alertpay.

This will give rise to criminals, scammers and the likes who can simply sign-up for an anonymous account giving false address, names and so forth.

If they can improve on this aspect and clean-up all their customer accounts then I believe e-gold will be here to stay…

I can only hope for the best.

    8. Gravatar Icon 8 Curt

Same thing is happening with a Valid U.S. Constitutional Dollar called the Liberty Dollar.

    9. Gravatar Icon 9 John

It is only a matter of time that e-Gold will be forced to close down if she remains in USA.

You don’t need to know rocket science to come to that conclusion. Get the hell out and go to somewhere safer and use Euros as the USD dollar is losing its value gradually………

    10. Gravatar Icon 10 Steven

      E-gold cannot be stopped..

One simple solution, that Omnipay is using, is simply verifying the Adress..

Maybe E-gold should consider adding limits for sending/receiving cash if you dont have a verified adress… that would already help I think :)

Just to point out that E-gold doesn’t use USD in the first place. It uses oz of gold.

The federal government has had egold in its sights for quite a while now, and it should come as no surprise that since they haven’t been able to proceed with closing down their operations, the next best thing for the feds is for them to cut off the companies who conduct business with egold. Suffocating egold in this fashion will pose an even greater success to the government in quashing what they perceive as a huge threat for them. Yes, we all agree that egold has its verification issues and yes they are a haven for fraud, but are they really allowing terrorists to filter money in and out to the extent that the government would have you believe, give me a break. As cashking alluded to in an earlier post, banks, whether in the US or not, are the real culprits in harboring terrorists, drug dealers, and money launderers financial WMD’s. Will we see the feds acting responsibly and encourage agencies at any level to aggressively pursue litigation and force banks to actually be in compliance with AML and BSA mandates, not likely. But what I do know is that as long as they continue to keep the pressure on MSB’s, ecurrencies, etc., the industry as a whole is only going to get smaller and smaller. I suggest to egold, the sooner you can move your servers offshore with redundant locations, the quicker you can avoid what everyone knows is inevitably going to happen. Whether or not the government has any proof of anything, they will stop at nothing to get what they want, even if they have to manufacture or embellish the truth. Vive l’egold. Thanks for your time.

I should probably direct one of them E-gold people to take a look at this entry

    14. Gravatar Icon 14 cashking

Yes Jude you should. We like e-gold and share the owner’s philosophy, but we strongly disagree with their insistence in running the company in the USA. the offshore registration of e-gold in St. Kitts & Nevis doesn’t seem to matter one bit if the owner runs the company physically in the USA.

Someone else mentioned the problem is you can have an anonymous account. Nonsense. Although you can put in fake details, how will you get that money out? And how did you get it in? Think about it. Let’s say I get $10,000 in e-gold and I want to take it home. I have to go through either Omnipay and there they’ll see my real name, bank info and all that. So there you go, they’ve got my real info. Or I go to another 3rd-party exchanger, and it’s the same thing - they have my real name and real everything because otherwise how will you get your money out? Also, how did you get your money IN to the e-gold system?

The *only* way I can see being anonymous in e-gold is if you used a fake passport to open up your bank account, use that fake name in e-gold, then wire your money out to the bank with the fake name. But then, this begs the question - if you’re defrauding a bank to begin with using fake passports, doesn’t this mean that there is a bigger problem with that person than just using a fake name in e-gold? At that point the bank has a problem too since they’ve accepted fraudulent documents for customer verification.

The point is, the accusations the government are making are ridiculous and have no merit.

    15. Gravatar Icon 15 Jude

cashking: and also, fake passports to debit card exchangers which issues the card to you.. I’ll let them take a look at this entry when I’m back at home.

    16. Gravatar Icon 16 cashking

Jude - yes fake passports to debit card exchangers BUT - don’t you have to provide them your real mailing address to get your debit card, even if you’ve got that fake passport? Even if it’s a fake name, it would be easy for an investigation to show that you’re the one that lives at that specified address.

Unless they use “drop houses” to get the debit card mailed.

I think the US Feds are just on a witch hunt and e-gold is at the top of the witch list

Here is a response I got from egold when I mentioned they get all offices out of the USA, and gave Panama as an example of a good location:

“Thanks for the advice (though you might want to consult a guy
named Noriega about Panama’s alleged safety!).”

      Comments?

    18. Gravatar Icon 18 cashking

LOL… that was the 1980’s.. Noriega was thrown out, because of the US military invasion of Panama in the 1980’s.. I don’t think there would be another invasion happening anytime soon :-)

    19. Gravatar Icon 19 Curt

LOL what he was saying is no where you are you are not safe for the US Government!:D

This news report is pretty bad. If you pay attention to it they have alot of the facts wrong. One of the major facts that I would like to point out is the mention of the Shadow crew bust. They said that this was only a year ago. In reality it was nearly 3 years ago and most of those rounded up by it are just getting back out on the streets.

For those who have been around the hyip arena for a decent amount of time, you will remember Patryn. In the news video they point out a southern california location where someone “laundered” hundreds of thousands in e-gold to cash. That was patryn that they were talking about. Again, this is from nearly 3 years ago.

Just wondering, is there anyone around here that has been around long enough to remember those good old days?

    21. Gravatar Icon 21 Jude

cashking: Not true. Organisations can rent a place with fake IDs just to get the cards for a start. That’s how Invex worked :)

    22. Gravatar Icon 22 cashking

Jude - I know, and I know about Invex. That’s why I said, unless they use drop houses… essentially if you rent a place with fake IDs, then it’s basically a drop house, because your real identity is not the person living there, it’s your fake identity living there.. besides, once the scam is up, the people take off!

Here’s an official useless answer from E-gold.

      Well,

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponzi_scheme

is all we know about “hyip,” and I have a feeling that blog might need to see those links more, but all the legal case opinions of e-gold can be found in the news section of the e-gold site. Thanks.

has everything about e-gold. It’s not possible to buy e-gold from e-gold Ltd. because e-gold Ltd. has never had a bank account per the important to read URL above. e-gold does not know about any business besides e-gold.

      https://www.e-gold.com/unsecure/nonrepudiation.html

You can locate a list of independent exchange services on the e-gold directory:

      http://www.e-gold.com/unsecure/links.htm

If you have access issues, you’ll need to contact the e-gold passphrase/PIN dept., which will contact you using the info in your account.

I hope e-Gold reads the discussion we are having here.
The above responses from e-Gold are quite typical. But I can say that I still support e-Gold because :

      1) It is the most widely used e-currency at the moment.
      2) No nonsense pay processor who conducts transactions FAST and almost without fail.
      3) Transaction fees are low.

But her interaction with her customers could be better………

We are here because we support e-Gold and are concern for her safety everywhere especially in USA.

I am quite confident that she is doing something to protect herself but cannot reveal it to anyone else at the moment. Eyes and ears are listening and she have to be careful as she had been threatened many times by the FEDS and etc…

I wished we can have a better e-currency but she seems to be the best at the moment. So e-Gold - it’s time to BUCKLE UP ! ! !

By its nature, US policy toward any financial vehicle is predatory, assuring us the inevitable stifiling of Ecurrencies and the opportunities afforded by their use.

An immediate solution is hazy, at best. Within a matter of a few years, the tentacles of Uncle Sam have expanded exponentially to allow warentless investigations by any number of official institutions, including the FBI, SEC, etc., etc.

Groups like the Sovereign Society assert that few options exist to safeguard wealth. One suggestion includes becoming an ex-pat (if you are a US citizen) and opening financial accounts in Lichtenstein, or Austria.

It’s a volatile world for ecurrencies…..damn sure things will fall favorably for those in power.
