It is upsetting that EG holder funds were frozen. This classic example of how the Federal Reserve will show by hook or by crook that it is the Only game in town.

I would like to point out the current case of the Liberty Dollar, “Americas inflation proof currency”. This is actual currency “metal coins and paper bills” that are backed by Gold that are an alternative to the US dollar. http://www.libertydollar.org/

But on the other hand I applaud the authorities for going after the scumbags who use EG in their scams. Kinda like the HYIP kingpin David Smile and team smallville.

This is just a bump in the road for EG. As a community we need to stick together on this one. We need to examine the transparency and Liquidity of our market. Exchangers need to step there game up in order to move EG in and out of system for domestic customers.

Lets keep our heads up!

Hi SteadyTeddy,
There are not many reputable exchagers left where you can exchange your e-gold to another DGC. You can try selling it to IceGold, GoldEx - seems they are still working with e-gold or Scriptlance and get 1% bonus. If you have The Digital Gold Card you can still use it and load it with e-gold.
Some of the rhetoric being dished out by the DoJ is really pathetic.

I mean, it is well known that the US Government funded Asama bin Laden, and made him into the local folk hero that he became in Afghanistan, when was considered an ally fighting off the Russian invasion of that country. Same thing with Sadam Hussein, we backed him when we were mad at Iran. There is a terrorist training camp in the US called The School of the Americas at Fort Benning, GA, which has a wall of shame full of pictures of third world terrosists who trained there. So, if you want to stop anonymous funding of terrorism, close the CIA, not egold. LOL

Then there's the issue of requiring monetary institutions to "Know your customers." Which in affecty requires these institutions to do the DoJ's job for them, by infringing on the privacy everyone. Thanks to the (un)Patriot Act, I have been banned from using Western Union, because I sent too much money through their system. There was no formal explanation for this action, just questions about why I was ending money to so many people, and supposed guidelines for beiong able to provide the needed documentation to be reinstated.

These requirments included having the people receiving the money to send them (WU) an itemized statement, with copies of receipts, for how they were using the money. I explained to them that the only time I used there services was to help someone one dire need, as their service is expensive, and that helping people with disabilities was what I do. They wouldn't budge. Then I explained that if I were inclined to ask people in crisis to provide these types of details, which I wasn't, but even if i were, it would be impossible for them to comply, because how can you provide receipts for how you're going to spend mopney that you haven't received yet?

So, this is the types of scenarios government intervention, by way of payment processors will likely further perpetuate. Restricted access without explanation, with unrealistic demands, in order to be reinstated, all in the name of the money handlers trying to stay out of hot water with the Feds themselves. Classixc manifestation of George Orwell's 1984 scenario of citizens reporting their family/neighbors for any transgretion, or being considered co-conspirators.

And all of this while congress is trying to sneak a vote on legislation through the senate to restrict our freedom to choose natural herbs and other alternative remedies under the guise of FDA reform promoted as being for our protaction on Monday.

The last time our government was so inclined to promote special interests over the people's interests, it caused a revolution. We may be at that point again. Where the only way to save our freedom is to fight the government which is trying to take it away. And this is not a Republicam or Democrat issue. Both parties are guilty. I think it is time for EVERYONE to vote Libertarian. LOL

Okay, I got carried away, my apologies. But this stuff ticks me off to no end. I got intop the online investment field as a way to raise money to help peiople with disabilities, and our government seems to have been my biggest hindrance encountered in trying to make this work. And with all fo their presence in this arena now, Stormpay still has oodles of my money. if the DoJ wants to go after a payment processor, there's one i would support them in going after. Instead, they seem to be focused on the ones which don't steal their members money.

And for this, we pay their salaries????? (GGGrrrrrrrr)

Beware of scam artists next week. If it was legal, I'd bet offshore money that someone's going to set up a fake website, claiming its the new offshore version of e-gold. Don't log in to such a site until you can confirm through reliable sources that it is a legit site.

I personally think that this really is the end of egold. I think that any admin who has not protected members account by moving funds out of egold by now, is seriously irresponsible. Surfmargin have aleady shifted funds out of egold. I dont know about planet trust or lighthalzen. If the money exchangers wont risk it doing transactions with egold then people should think seriously about leaving their personal funds in there. Just my 2 cents.

I just did a test spend of $0.01 USD worth of gold to The Bullion Exchange's e-gold account. The E-gold website said that this account does not exist. I guess their e-gold account has been deleted.

Cannot preview spend, the error is:
Payee Account Number (352xxx) is missing or invalid.

Unfortunately, I don't have funds to test TBE's e-bullion account.

I wonder how long before AlertPay announces that they won't be doing e-gold exchanges anymore.

I just requested a transfer via Scriptlance to PayPal.

Scriptlance do the PayPal transfer thing under the radar, as one of their options when they are in need of e-gold. If all of a sudden they start sending huge amounts to PayPal, someone might just sit up and take notice. I suspect they will soon cease exchanging egold, or at least lowering their limit, with this fiasco going on.

I'd like to see Jackson put a news update on the E-gold site.

Goes to show you cannot take a week off without some major event striking around the corner.

One can also move e-gold to a broker temporarily before wiring it to a bank. This can be done in a matter of minutes. I transferred my gold to NorthFinance.

Regarding Scriptlance - just a heads up. Yes they are legitimate but they are slow. Be prepared to wait AT LEAST 3 days before they pay you. If you are looking to dump your egold quickly, move it over to something like alertpay.

To say this has been an eventful week for me would be quite an understatement. Suffice to say, if it's always darkest before the dawn, then tomorrow I shall be winning the state lottery.
