E-gold is currently down for scheduled maintenance.

The e-gold system is temporarily offline for scheduled maintenance. Normal operation is expected to resume by 10:00 PM EDT. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

UPDATE: E-Gold is BACK ONLINE. All is working just fine.

To throw in my two cents on the e-gold issue, I have been reading over posts and comments here and I’m pleased to see that the majority of users are backing e-gold up. Of all the payment processors we’ve seen in the past: EVOcash, INTgold, EMO, even StormPay… e-Gold has been the one to stand it’s ground and I personally have had no issues with them. I think until we hear more on the court case, everything here is speculation and we need to step back, calm down, and remember that e-Gold is still operational and that there is no reason for us to panic like we are.

I recently spoke with a friend of mine who runs a popular digital currency exchange, and he told me that though the e-gold out exchanges have increased (which is expected from those who are scared right now), the increase has been MINIMAL… very small. Much smaller than expected. This tells us that people are still trusting e-gold and aren’t jumping the gun yet. Even though a few sites have switched over to eBullion (which has also had it’s problems remember!)… there are still thousands of sites using e-Gold, and it remains the largest accepted digital currency.

Feel free to add your comments, I think at least the people of the NOBS network have the brains to stay calm and not start wasting money from fees of trying to transfer funds over to other currencies just yet. If anything, this court case will take a while… and during that time e-Gold will remain open for business as usual.

      just another scheduled maintenance
      nothing to worried.

    2. Gravatar Icon 2 chamberofgold.com

      Correct, I’m not worried either.

chamberofgold – what problems has eBullion had?

    4. Gravatar Icon 4 karen_6150

I do believed that e-gold would stay stronger at it is since most of the International users had no choice but to used the e-currency. So far most of the largest company in the web are still using e-gold and so I am not worried since I do believed that it was just pure allegations for now that e-gold has resort to money laundering . But I believed that e-gold is still the best site for International affiliates.

I see that e-gold is working again, I processed couple of withdrawals at my site.

I wonder, what is the reliable payment processor that I can offer as an alternative at my site, what would you recommend?

I can’t use PayPal since I can’t do withdrawals from PayPal.
I was thinking about Stormpay and then I visited the site and realized it’s not payment processor anymore…
Moneybookers maybe? Do they have automation payments interface at their site?

Your right I see no sense in paying fees to rush to move it outward My guess is that those that do so are only going to have to turn around and move it back in the not so distant future. So more fees

Personally mine (not a large amount) is staying where it is.

Whilst I can understand some program admins and merchants having fairly large sums of money in an egold account I would have thought that the majority of users would not keep that high a balance in there (otherwise it’s not really working for them very efficiently).

I’d agree with Jude’s main point that everyone seems to be taking a breath and letting the situation become clearer before taking any action, perhaps there is hope for us all!

they put the squeeze on the EXCHANGERS which harms all areas of using egold, not egold itself.. I guess in a backward way of trying to pull it down, cripple it. It HAS done damage to US exchangers. Look at thebullionexchange! (Not to mention millions stored “safely” in 1MDC!) Frozen funds — cant do business, dont know when or IF Feds will release grip on private funds to complete the transactions stuck in the system.
This is where the problem lies. It is obvious Feds have nothing on egold from years of trying to bring it down – or they certainly would have by now.
I am sure ebullion is next – but remember the MO, no warning, in order to get the largest “catch”.
      Disgusting.

    9. Gravatar Icon 9 chamberofgold.com

Yes, it is a worry for those with large sums of money being held in e-gold, but as Sophie said… the main crack down has been on exchangers. Keep in mind, not all exchangers were shut down, so you can still find a lot that are open for business.

If you were e-gold right now, what would you do? I think they could take an eBullion approach of making people verify their ID when attempting to withdraw, and people are wanting more security measures (as mentioned in previous posts). What do you want to see happen to gain your trust back in e-gold?

thats an easy question! LOL Get out of the US!!

The exchangers too as we have just learned.

Instead of saying Remember the Alamo.. to this genertaion it’s…

      Remember EMO !

Here’s an article in a “mainstream” commercial blog. Not much we don’t already know but it’s interesting to see this outside our little bubble-world of HYIP.

As with what Bill has said and I agree with him fully, we can only wait and see instead of speculating what’s going to happen.

      Great post!

We need to increase business and commerce within the US EG Community.
Common sense MAY dictate not to hold large amounts within the system but totally cutting ties with EG and “washing hands” of Egold is ridiculous.

While Egold has not been totally perfect (Who/What is?) I am sure it has provided many of us with value and at least a learning experiance (and maybe some fun to!)

Cutting out on Egold now is like turning you back on a best friend who is facing some hard times. ):

What Exchangers have integrity? I have been using The Bullion Exchange which is no longer available?

    16. Gravatar Icon 16 Sophie

Sandra TBE has plenty of integrity.. it was the Feds that caused this problem for innocent people conducting their private business – this was govt interferance at it’s typical worst. TBE cannot do a thing until “big bully” gives them back their money.. that’s all.

Some excahngers not hit by this – are offshore to the US, like anygoldnow. This speaks volumes on where free business enterprise should be located.

    17. Gravatar Icon 17 chamberofgold.com

The exchanger that I mentioned in my post was IGE (instant gold exchange) which can be found at: instantgold.net

Has very low rates, trustworthy, and brand new debit cards :-)

    18. Gravatar Icon 18 alfahari

All the fuss about e-gold ltd. winding up will soon settle. consider the customer base e-gold has created. “big bully” does not fear what e-gold ltd. HAS DONE, rather it fears what is going to be.

were it that e-gold would go offline and intergrate its services to the small enterprises; another blow to the big shots in business.

      Hello Friends.

In my view everything will be back but with some new terms and conditions

All USDOJ did is allegations not final judgement so now case will be procced in routine and its hard for us gov as well to delcare all accounts misused. US govt cannot eat the whole bunch of money just by allegations. The account which will be guilty and found bad will be closed but they have no reason to freeze or seize money of exchangers which are operating USA. Out of states companies are out of jurisdiction of US courts. alot of questions will raise on Govt that why they didn’t stopped it for last 10 years. Is USDOJ and USSS and FBI was sleeping for 10 years and now today when e-gold is spreaded worldwide they suddenly make allegations and freeze whole money its very funny . no?

Finally i think if Govt stands at their point of view and if they already have decided under table to close egold then no power can stop them but if it happen then no other company can take place for alternate of E-gold. No doubt e-gold is leader in E-currency business.

Hello Chamberofgold and others do not work with http://www.instantgold.net they are rippers and they ripper me recently. work with anyone else which name is mentioned at e-gold.com website but do not work with http://www.instantgold.net

so is instantgold.net a reliable exchanger or not?

    22. Gravatar Icon 22 tdinoz

I loaded dwg card through instantgold net again yesterday he took a couple of hours , another 130 This is the 2nd time
I havent used the exchange Sony Erickson have you rang the guy?

    23. Gravatar Icon 23 ChamberOfGold.com

I haven’t used the exchange, but I know one of the guys that runs the site. Really nice, and their service is great. I funded a DWG Debit Card yesterday and it was completed very quick. Its the only exchange/egold debit card site that I know one of the owners of… so its the only one I can safely recommend.

Anyone know of other trustworthy sites?

      –ChamberOfGold.com Admin

    24. Gravatar Icon 24 ChamberOfGold.com

SonyEricsson… what happened with IGE and yourself? Tell me your story, I’d like to hear it! I haven’t heard of any complaints about them before.

Looks like e-gold has updated their directory for exchangers and merchants, I’m checking a few of them out now. Have you used any of those services before and would recommend any?

bestgoldcard, cashcards, euro gold sales, goldkobo, goldpouch, goldthrift

BestGoldCard wasn’t accepting new debit card members last I checked, which sort of renders them useless. I haven’t heard about most of the others… except for icegold.

    25. Gravatar Icon 25 midwestmoneyman

well since i heard that some of you had instantgold.net as a trustworthy source, i decided to place an order for the dwg credit card on their site.

4 hours after i ordered i received an email that

The card is mailed from Virginia, however it will take 6-8 weeks for delivery because the cards are not currently available due to redesigning and also your name will be embossed on the card as well.

And I only received this information after I sent them a couple of emails.

Needless to say I am not very happy. One would think that trustworthy people would at least have that information on their site before a person placed their order.

I have sent them an email asking for a refund…why would a company take your money if they know that they can’t deliver in 6 to 8 weeks. let’s see what happens…

    26. Gravatar Icon 26 ChamberOfGold

6-8 weeks is usually the standard on any sort of shipping order. As a user of eBay, I hear the ’6-8 weeks’ estimate all the time. Usually it is quicker.

I ordered my DWG debit card at the beginning of this month, and received it on May 12th (approx 2 weeks). It did not have my name engraved on it… so maybe they are changing things up? Not sure.

    27. Gravatar Icon 27 midwestmoneyman

one would think that any company that had FEDEX as an option would also state that shipping was delayed for 6 to 8 weeks..

      hardly a trustworthy site…

well at least they are in the USA so I can contact the local BBB about them

    28. Gravatar Icon 28 ChamberOfGold.com

As far as I can tell, IGE orders the cards from a company called Digital World Global Card. They don’t make the cards themselves, so they can’t speed up shipping even if they wanted to. They have to take whatever shipping arrangements are offered by the debit card company… all they do is order the card for you. If FEDEX was an option, im sure they’d list it.

Personally I think you’re getting angry over something trivial. You’re basing the trustworthiness of a company on ordering a debit card and them telling you that the company they get the cards from is delayed and will send it out in 6-8 weeks, which isn’t unheard of as an estimate. It seems to me like its something out of their hands. They don’t promise on the site that the card will arrive to your front door in 48 hours. If IGE stole your money and never shipped you the card… that would be a different story, but they said it will be shipped, and you haven’t even used IGE’s service yet (funded your card, done an exchange, or used the debit card) to judge their service. You’re going to contact BBB over that?

    29. Gravatar Icon 29 midwestmoneyman

Well I specifically asked them via email about this before I ordered the card and they said 2-3 DAYS…once I ordered they say 6 to 8 WEEKS…

Obviously they are not trustworthy. Deceptive advertising is the same as stealing.

I think that is reason to contact the BBB.

    30. Gravatar Icon 30 sharonsopinion

I have to weigh in with my opinion on this one. I 100% agree with Chamber of Gold on this one. (BTW, nice to see you again, COG!) There are legitimate reasons to contact the BBB and notifying you in advance of a new card procedure, which takes a couple of weeks, is not one of them.

First, they could have been in the process of changing procedures when you ordered. The customer service rep (assumption) that told you 2-3 days was giving you the information that they had at that time. Then they rolled out the new procedure and sent you an email so that you would know it would be a bit longer. That kind of notification should be standard business practice.

Second, a shipping & handling of 6-8 weeks is normal in the normal business world. It is not out of line at all. We’re so used to instant gratification, especially from the scam ponzi sites, but also from electronically moving money around in minutes, hours or days. However, when you’re talking about a physical product, then saying 6-8 weeks is normal. Usually, it takes a week or two. They say 6-8 weeks to cover in any unforseen delays.

So, I recommend that you calm down. Take a deep breath. Get a good night’s sleep. Wait 8 weeks. THEN if you don’t have your card AND they can’t explain why, you MIGHT have a claim with the BBB.

      JMO,
      Sharon

    31. Gravatar Icon 31 ChamberOfGold.com

      Hi Sharon!

Nice to see you as well! I think you’ve given some great advice. If they did say 2-3 days, I’d sure like to know who they are shipping with! Usually it is a 2-3 week wait unless you’re paying extra for overnight or express.

BBB I’m sure gets hundreds of minor complaints each day. To me, the BBB is a place to go to for serious problems with a criminal offense has occurred… such as a company stealing $1000′s from you and you have nobody to turn to for help… a last resort. I think even false advertising is not a big enough issue to go to the BBB for. An example of a BBB problem would be a few years ago friends of mine purchased timeshare with a company ($5000 ) to have a condo for summer months over a period of a few years (signed a contract). The company 4 months later ran with about half a million dollars from it’s members. BBB was contacted, police were involved, and the people were eventually caught. This is what I see as the purpose behind BBB, warning others about very serious criminal businesses that… for the outside looks ok and can lead unsuspecting customers into losing a lot of money. RegisterFly is a perfect example of this as well!

    32. Gravatar Icon 32 tdinoz

hmm well I got the card (dwg debit card) took about 7 days out to Australia
if that. Used it twice no drama

    33. Gravatar Icon 33 tdinoz

Thats the card delivery I am talking about above loading the card always happened well within 12 hours. One thing with the latest happenings with e-gold they could be swamped with orders I received mine in March before it all started. I know IGE is not the only ones that are selling these cards. I saw a monitor selling them the other day and also a reseller on one of the larger forums.

    34. Gravatar Icon 34 ChamberOfGold.com

      Great to hear that tdinoz.

Good point you bring up about e-gold… with all the stuff going on, I’m sure their orders went up and this might be the reason.

I just got my card funded and haven’t tried it at an ATM yet, but I’ll let you all know how it goes. So far so good :-)
