  • Business Blogs - Blog Top Sites

    May 16th 2007

I have long time ago wanted to write articles and tutorials on how to monetize an online publication as well as teach people how to make money online apart from dabbing myself with HYIPs and forex (in which both I have two different publications on)

Now here’s a pickle. Our readers will decide whether should we be starting one or none at all for me, as I value all your suggestions.

Currently I’m busy with forex trading, as well as researching on online money making opportunities, especially monetizing online publications with Google Adsense and many more PPC campaigns.

*Points to the left, please help us out! :)

Yes That would be good, a new blog page but you would need to send the link to me each time through email please.

      Regards Barbara

Jude, “make money online” is probably the most targeted phrase and what’s worst is that there you will compete with the best e-marketers.
On the other hand, the readership from here will be easy drawn to that blog, but it is questinable how many of these mates will be interested in it (coz that is still working for money). So probably keep it as a section of this one. Will have better placement in the SEs and all that.

    3. Gravatar Icon 3 Jude

Tony, you have a good point on that one. but isn’t it too messy with HYI and SE/ PPC articles clamping together?

    4. Gravatar Icon 4 Simon

Not to be too critical of the masses, but I believe mbongwe is right when he says that the majority of HYIers will have no interest in the area. Many just want the easy ride, and are unwilling to concede that in reality, you need to do USEFUL work in order to make reliable money.

However, the one thing I want to do is try and bring some people over from the HYIP side of things to the webmastering arena, so I say go for it! A new blog, some good content (don’t worry about the competition) and see if you can get any converts. I’d be the first to advertise on it too!

To me a blog is just another website with info on it. I think there is probably more to it as far as putting that info on it, layout etc. In the end I think it has to come back to you, Jude, as to which is easier for you to do and maintain.

Yes it has to be easy to use as well or no one will bother, so take that into account.

I look forward to reading these tutorials and I vote to K.I.S.S.

    6. Gravatar Icon 6 Jude

Nice, I like how this blog is knitting to be frank. More and more intelligent and nice people are sprouting and contributing.

      Brow, I’ll try to K.I.S.S ;)

      Jude,

My vote would be to go ahead and publish the content/guides, but not on a separate site.. because the more sites you have, the lesser of a concentration of readers you’ll have on each site.. it is cumbersome for some people to check multiple sites… me personally, I’d rather just check NOBS blog daily and not have to check a bunch of other sites.

I see your site as a “making money online” site, and not necessarily as an “HYIP” only site, with the typical perception of “HYIPs” being Ponzis for the most part… I see your blog as steering in the direction of more legitimate opportunities and ways of making money, whether it be a passive form of money-making or active such as ads, etc.

But ultimately, it’s up to you - whatever works out the best for you. In any case, definitely publish the content whether you do it here or on a separate site :)

Jude, you are probably right, though you already have categories and can do it like that. I am trying to put in your shoes - I think the articles will be seen by more people here than in some new site (which won’t be easy to drive traffic too). A new site is yet another kid to keep an eye on, to update regularly etc.

On the other hand, a new site is a different project which can turn into many more things over the time, you never know. It could open many opportunities. It’s not an easy dilema indeed.

From a reader’s point of view, it does not matter too much. I can read good articles either here or on another URL, no biggy.

Most of the posts I read on this blog are informational in nature with some personal perspective added. If you want to provide a more of an educational slant then I would suggest starting a new blog as this would allow people to choose what type of information they want. It would also allow you to ‘brand’ the new blog more specifically so that readers are not in any doubt as to what your intention is.

    10. Gravatar Icon 10 Simon

I suppose you could boil it down to a simple choice - do you just want to target the HYIP Community, or go further a field? If it is just people within this Community, then I guess using this blog would work just as well. Or you could use the same base url, but put the content on a different subdomain:

      HYIPs - hyipblog.nobshyip.net
      Monetising - monetising.nobshyip.net

Personally, I think there needs to be some kind of distinction for the readers. HYIPs are games, monetising websites / creating services for people is entirely different in my opinion. You can always post a weekly roundup article on this blog about the alternative things going on in the monetising area.

    11. Gravatar Icon 11 Brow

I apologise, Jude, for the reference of that last .S in my post. No offence intended (as I gather none taken by your reply).

Is it easier for you to start a new blog or incorporate into this one?

    12. Gravatar Icon 12 Jude

No offence. :) It’s actually gonna be the same.

Either starting a new one or not doesn’t matter, but I would like to see what kind of audiences I have at the moment, (since most of us like to hang around with each other) and whether do they like to learn new things together, apart from HYIP that is.

    13. Gravatar Icon 13 Robert

I like the idea of the added value. I do agree that it would be good to integrate into your existing blog. 1) Established 2) Avid HYIP readers will continue to come and thus give these a different avenue they might not thought of before 3) as mentioned above.. K.I.S.S. 4) and what’s one more section :-)

Hi Jude, I am a believer that the more Blog’s you have the better it is. I own 10 blog’s. I use mine to advertise all kinds of programs. I get paid 6 different ways. What i like about them most is if a program isn’t doing verygood i can change it.

So, if you ask me, yes start a new blog.

    15. Gravatar Icon 15 jim

      Jude,
I have long wanted to learn how to blog and make money from it and also have the odd flutter in the “adventuresome”market! I think that it would be great to have a link from your present blog to that additional feature and then we could access both. By the way any timeframe on your forex findings/recommendations being published? Thanks for all you do, by the way.

    16. Gravatar Icon 16 HYIP Hound

I am working along the same lines as you are Jude.. looking more and more toward webmastering for income.. and have the same dilema in a smaller way.

I think as stated earlier, in general, HYIP investors want a passive income are arent interested in learning anything at all technical, even simple blog admin. So I think you need to keep them seperate enough so as not to bore either audience with too much with the other’s info.

    17. Gravatar Icon 17 sharonsopinion

      Jude,

I vote for a separate blog. However, if you do decide to add it to this blog, then I’ll add a new Advice List category to NN. That way the articles will not only be available by category here, but people will be able to look through a list at all of the titles on NN.

      JMO,
      Sharon

    18. Gravatar Icon 18 funbiz

      Hi Jude;

I vote to stick with this one and add another category. I don’t think it really make any difference one way or another but think it will be much easier to manage.

And one link instead of two. I got too many already. :)

    19. Gravatar Icon 19 Dale131

I have enough sites to remember and enough E-mail. this site is fine … just add the new stuff to it and I’LL BE HAPPY

    20. Gravatar Icon 20 ira laufer

It is extremely difficult to earn money in te HYIP field. Having as site that works at it exclusively is a valuable tool. It has the power to communicate with admins which most investors are not able to do.

There are and will be tons of blogs with advice about almost everything.

One that specializes in HYIPs is invaluable.

    21. Gravatar Icon 21 ira laufer

A site specializing in HYIPs is extremely valuable. It gives you the power to questions admins which most of us are unable to do.

It’s very hard to earn money in the field. Having this type of blog will always be needed.

    22. Gravatar Icon 22 JoseLeon

I think that it´s not useful having a lot of website but it´s up to you Jude, perhaps you can get a lot of readers in all your projects ;)

    23. Gravatar Icon 23 neutreal

      Hi Jude,

Best to start a new blog. The “Make Money Online” community is definitely not the same compared to the “HYIP” community.

It’ll keep the different blogs more focused IMO.

    24. Gravatar Icon 24 Paul

      Hi Jude,

It’s a different niche. Start a new blog. 80% or more of the people who read this blog will not be interested in the adsense/PPC stuff.

      Keep up the great work

      Paul

    25. Gravatar Icon 25 BigMike

      Jude,
I vote for a separate site. You can always put a prominent link from this one to the new one to get people to read it. You could also put teasers in both blogs to get people to go look at the other.
A new blog to follow in its development, assuming you share these techniques, could be the best teacher, rather than have everyone trying to do it on their own.
I am switching from HYIPS to a selected few “safer investment” sites. At the same time, I would relish info on real moneymaking sites that don’t require either a high investment in time or money and possible easy duplication.
If I can learn how to monitize one site amd make even a hundred dollars a month, I can duplicate it until I have as much income as I want.
If you can specialize in “perpetual income” type sites, with guidance in the best of other types, we could all profit greatly.

PS - I am steadily working on my new site for computer security and will share the conclusions with you when I feel it is ready. Hopefully very soon.

I would love to see tutorials on a building a blog like yours and generating revenue from it. I think you should have a seperate blog for it, since it is a completely different market, but also have a section on this blog that links to it.

    27. Gravatar Icon 27 The Smart HYIP Investor

      I would second Simon’s idea.

If you really want to “separate” the tutorials from your normal blog posts, a new blog at a sub domain would be a good choice.

It will allow you to really have a focused content for that blog (purely educational) but yet capitalise on the traffic that this blog is already getting from search engines, partners and not to forget your loyal readers.

    28. Gravatar Icon 28 barmor

As a reader, I prefer to get my information on one site. I have so many bookmarks that just managing them is cumbersum.

I’m not doing HYIP currently, but I’m still interested and will jump back in sometime in the future. I’m now doing MLM online and am interested in other income generating online businesses.

I would be content to satisfy my interests on one site. Or at least cross-referenced links. ;)

    29. Gravatar Icon 29 doremi

      Hi Jude,

My vote would be to stick with this one and adding a new category. I don’t have to keep track with 2 blogs to be abreast. Traffics will be concentrated at one place and not divided.

I strongly support that you give tutorials on real investments and don’t bother with the HYIPs where are 99.99% are scams.

    30. Gravatar Icon 30 Jude

Its not a hard job to start a new blog, but to perform SEO and to get Google to index it as a good resource and have regular traffic to it will be tougher.

Thank you for all your suggestions, I’m looking at this entry closely and will end the poll in a week.

    31. Gravatar Icon 31 tdinoz

I would vote for an entirely new one. I’ll even deal with the “oh so hard slog” of going there.

    32. Gravatar Icon 32 NITRO3

HHHMMM, tough one Jude! im still getting my way around this one, alot of useful stuff, what the heck i say add the tutorials on this blog, something people can say a great site with a whole bag of everything in it!!

Goodluck, but what ever you do ill be following you!

      Nitro

    33. Gravatar Icon 33 zamae

it would be preferable to have a single site as it shall cater to various issues. its simplistic.

    34. Gravatar Icon 34 Mike Lamb

Keeping things simple, I reckon it would be better to have HYIPers on a separate site.

      Mike

    35. Gravatar Icon 35 Blackpawn

Having everything on this will be fine with me. I am very interested in learning
about how things work etc. & prefer not to have to look at too many more sites.
      Good Luck
