I have 5 grams of gold ($105) in e-gold, Pecunix, Webmoney or any other. This will go to the person who can show me how to edit some video which is currently in a Real Media file. This is a three hour (47 meg) file from e-gold Congressional testimony on child porn payments. I want to cut out certain spots, and then edit them into one short 10 minute or so video for YouTube. Can anyone show me how to edit this file, cut, save and splice? I have the file downloaded to my PC and just need brief instructions. Gold is yours today. ePanama@cryptoheaven.com

I think that you should use a program to convert rm to avi like this:

      http://www.rmconverter.com/index.html

Then, you can use windows movie maker (it’s in each windows xp) to edit easily this avi file.

If you don’t know how to use windows movie maker please let me know.

      I hope this helps.

Ok, I got the rmconverter, trial version and converted the large 47meg file to .avi, I loaded it into Windows movie maker and it split up the file into like 748 ‘clips’ and I went through and test edited like 10 clips and had a ‘movie’ but the sound did not match the movement of the person talking, lips and the voice are off sinc ………What is that and how to fix?

      Hi Mark,

Did you manage to fix the problem?

Anyway, the reason could be possibly due to the .avi format that Windows Movie Maker cannot read properly.
You may read about it here:
      http://www.manifest-tech.com/media_pc/avi_formats.htm

I would suggest that you convert the file into .wmv instead as this would works better in Windows Movie Maker and totally eliminate the “off sinc” problem.

      Hope that helps.

Yes, you must do a hard work Mark…

perhaps it´s due to converting rm to avi, prove it with another video format as Yual says.

cashking, thank, I have the file now redone with another converter but its still not in sinc so I don’t know what to do AGAIN. Here is the link for the file, you can download it and convert it yourself to whatever works in Windows Movie Maker and then it yours is in sinc, please email me the copy so I can edit. You can also edit it yourself to make a fun movie if you wanted. I’ve got it tagged and such for editing but not all of it so there is still lots to edit, I can’t send all the edits to anyone for a final, its not there yet.

Any advice on how to get a working .avi or .wmv copy ? I changed the frame rate higher and lower, but neither will give me a good copy. I can now try in .wmv if that works also with WinMovMak.

      This sucks. Help Link:

Mark - I’m not having much luck myself. Question - how did you save the .rm file ? The only file I get from that site is the .ram file which doesn’t contain the video, it’s basically just a link to the video.. I didn’t see any ’save’ feature in RealPlayer… ?

Yes, its up now on YouTube, thanks, its just the first one (Part 1) I’ll do a few more because there are many more interesting topics and points in the 3 hour tape, this one was just the first video I ever made.

I’ll embed it in some blogs as soon as I can figure it out.

Many thanks to all especially Jose, that info got it done.
