I actually haven't dabbled into a single 'HYIP' for about 1 year now (last one I was in was Compact Surfing, I did a quick hit & run on that one), but at the end of the day what keeps me in the 'community', reading blogs such as NOBS is the same reason everyone else mentioned - the friendships. I've lost money more than once on Autosurfs/HYIPs in these past 2 years but, I've acquired fantastic friendships along the way, which I value more than money. I try and stay in touch with the higher quality people, who are driven like myself to become financially free and who are pleasant to deal with, and who are intellectually stimulating.

I know something you don't know, and you know something I don't know - so together, we benefit by sharing information... and so, just like the others have said.. it's really about the network, the community.. the important knowledge gained, and important friendships and contacts gained.. it took a long time to get to where I am, but I'm glad that I did! :)

I entered in investment programs from a nice girl and I was very interested because my economy was (and is) very bad since my divorce. Then I began to lose my few money in these programs lol

Later I was investing in one of these programs and became part of the support team, but finally it was another ponzi too. I made a lot of friends there and as I have a lot of free time in my real job then I began to make contacts with nice people over the world and created my own forum where we are like a family yet.

Now I think that the best part is the community and friendship, and also trying to make some money online if it´s possible (I always think that the best method to make money online is porn, not hyips lol).

I'm in line with Simon and Dolphin's thinking on this community. To me, friendship forged here is more important than anything. And with that, we continue to grow, sharing all we can on knowledge and continue to bond stronger as friends.

Money is important (that's why we're here), but money is not everything.

Thanks for the replies, and for the welcome. :)

I agree that NN is a great resource - it's certainly nice to have a bunch of more thoughtful and level-headed people around, who understand that money isn't everything, and that it doesn't grow on trees either. lol

I'm actually really looking forward to see what Jude comes up with concerning the new blog / blog extension on other income sources like PPC and ad revenue. I hope people see it as complimentary to the info on HYIPs, rather than an attempt to replace it. I believe a mix of passive (hyips, taking its original meaning) and active (webmastering) income streams should be the aim of those serious about being a success online. I also think that bringing in that active side helps you to be more realistic about how risky the passive options really are.

Hey Simon ..

Welcome to no bs as a guest writer ;) Nice first entry there ...

I first came into this arena with the interest of making money .. that still remains a motivating factor today, but the main reasons I stay are because of the community too .. and because I've learned a great deal about finances and businesses since being part of all this for over two years now.

I've definitely learned a LOT ... what I've found to be my most valuable experiences though, have been the people, the networking, and the friendships I've had the honor of cultivating ...

I've learned that making money is about people, not about the money itself .. did that make sense? :D

That's why I'm still here despite feeling a bit discouraged lately with how things have been...

My 'drive' in this 'industry' is more treating it like a hobby. I really do not spend more than I am prepared to lose. It is like gambling and instead of going to casino's (or the pub) I got into HYIP's.

I think I am lucky to have stumbled onto a few sites like NN which have taught me a few things and hopefully with more people looking for genuine opportunities, I can learn to make real money at a decent return for longer term goals.

I look forward to more posts by Simon and also Jude's tutorials for the learning experience and just maybe a few profits too.
