Gold & Silver Reserve CEO Douglas Jackson was sentenced to 300 hours of community service, a $200 fine, and three years of supervision, including six months of electronically monitored home detention. He had faced a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.

Jackson was spared a heavier fine because, according to his attorney, he’s deeply in debt. “Dr. Jackson has suffered, will continue to suffer, and may never be successful with E-Gold,” the judge said.

As of with Mark Herpel’s DGCMagazine as well. If you haven’t already read about e-Gold’s new goals to bow to the Feds on their requirements, get your fix from him. It spells out pretty well to where e-Gold direction will be heading for the next decade.

At least we’re not just seeing something like “Site Undergoing Maintenance” for eternity.. If you know what I mean.

First, e-Gold bows to US legislation on getting ‘things straight’ that there will no longer be privacy. Now e-Bullion gets its own fiasco with founder James Fayed being apprehended for the same problem that e-Gold faces for not having licences to transmit money and suspected for a highly controversial case on his wife Pamela Fayed’s murder.

 July 28th, 2008 was a Monday night like most other weeknights but as the sun set over the California coastline about 6:35 p.m. e-bullion’s Pamela Fayed was being murdered. This is a tragic event, a mother has died and she was someone the DGC industry knew very well. Aveis said James Fayed’s international business was an unlicensed scheme that netted $20 million worth of individuals’ investments. Goldfinger and e-Bullion provide trading services to people who want to invest in precious metals without the cost of storing, insuring and transporting bullion. The companies have vaults in Los Angeles, Delaware, Switzerland and Australia and act as wholesalers. \\ From SFGate

Police also seized $3 million in gold bullion, $60,000 in cash, 25 assault rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition at Fayed’s house.

At this very point, the site was under maintenance from 5th of August till now. I’m suspecting the Feds are raiding the servers and you guys would probably see e-Bullion being placed in a receivership really soon. That’s my guess. Wait out for James Fayed hearing on the 18th of August.

Nothing like freedom or privacy exists in the US. Period.

• Take time to plan your portfolio – allocate your assets to various financial vehicles according to your needs. This is the fiscal equivalent of the good old adage “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket”. The reasoning behind this approach is the definition of the term “getting higher returns”. It’s not enough that you manage to beat the market when the going is good – what’s important is being able to protect your downside when the going tough and the markets are down.
• High interest rates are good but they’re not always the focus of an investment. Oftentimes an investment may be made in a low interest-yielding option because of other advantages like tax deductions.

Seek the services of a financial consultant before you invest in stocks, bonds or funds of any kind.

Gold Today

On the daily chart, gold looks weakened pretty much. If you’re a punter and you’re expecting gold prices to go up within the next few days, it might just be a losing battle for you.

On the weekly chart, it looks just as weak, with the technical indicators like MACD and candle falling towards the MA lines below. Though the general trending for gold is still generally on the upside, we won’t really know.

Go For Gold Today Unless…

You think you know what you’re doing and you wouldn’t mind keeping gold for good in the long run. As we know whenever the dollar goes up, gold prices comes down and vice versa. There doesn’t always seem to be a perfect time to own gold in a way. Gold, being traded as a commodity, has its intrinsic value backdated since decades ago and will continue to be the same.

In short, I’m pretty skeptical of gold breaching pass the $1030 mark an ounce this year, but I might be wrong.

Sunrise 1, 2, 3 - Basically allowing asian corporations/ corporations to register their company domains before it actually launches to the public. Land Rush is where it becomes a first come first serve basis to allow public to register their desired domains. Well, I’ve tried to, and didn’t exactly get anything much during the Sunrise period.

As stated in the DotAsia Public Relation pdf in March, most of the high value words are still available for registration, and where as Chinese and Indians are the most aggressive dot asia domain owners; not surprising since this two countries are having the highest population in the world and both are the top asian countries.

Most of the domains I registered seemed to have some value in them and went into a current auction pool whereby we have to bid for them.

During the earlier Sunrise and Land Rush phases, .Asia already received over 500,000 domain registration applications. About 45,000 domains received more than one application, and will go to auction. This proved to be successful in reducing the chaos created in previous domain launches as registrants clamour for high value domains.

Interestingly, the one that fetched the highest bid till date now is sexshop.asia at $53,607 with second placing sex.asia at $33,000. You can check the ticker here. I’d be paying more for sex.asia than sexshop.asia if I have the choice!

Controversies of Dot Asia as compared to Other Top-level Domains

There are many articles floating around with people doubting the potential of .asia domains on whether it might be another hype. As we know and see, .eu domains didn’t quite exactly, and even until now value as much as people who have punted and hope for when they rushed into the .eu registration craze in 05 (Sunrise period) and 06 (Landrush period.

Fact is till date, there’re about 2.7 million .eu registrations with close to 500 million people in Europe. If we are comparing with population numbers, Asia stands at 3.7 billion till date.

No matter how you look at it, even if it doesn’t flourish (and it shouldn’t) as well as top level domain name .com, it should worth more that what you have paid for for registering it early if its a good keyword / word domain if you hold it for long.

So Going For Dot Asia?

Su.sg (shorturl.sg) basically works like how Tinyurl does, with the only exception that it’s even shorter. (*the irony, LOL*). This works for me since Realtors do always advertise on papers and we’ll need to shorten our URLs to save the cost. Also a good two word domain works pretty nicely when you have a too lengthly url to share and would like to shorten them.

On top of my head, if you use twitter, you could use it to shorten your URL to share too!
